Licensed Mental Health Counselor | MEd, LMHC, LPC
I was born in McHenry, IL, lived in Tulsa, OK for a year, and was raised in Arlington, TX. I was a sensitive yet social child, seeking out people and solitude. When I was 15 my best friend was killed in a car accident and this loss led me to become active in the church and in my Christian faith. In college I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. I then worked in childcare, petting sitting, and Southwest Airlines. I then returned to the University of North Texas where I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education. At this point I had a one-year-old and I took the next twelve years to raise her and her two younger brothers. During this time, I homeschooled them for a few years and enjoyed this season of being at home with my children.
In 2010 I worked at a private practice in St. Louis, MO and in 2011 I was a school counselor at a private Christian school in St. Louis. In 2014, I left the private practice and private school and opened my own private practice in Union, MO. The years of 2010-2014 were rewarding and challenging as I became a widow, single mother, got remarried, became a stepmom, moved to a new town, and started my own business. Having been a dog person my entire life I became a cat lady when I remarried. Now I am both a cat person and dog person!
I lived in Union, MO from 2012-2020 and moved to Ponte Vedra, FL in May 2020 when my youngest son graduated from high school. My husband and I have four cats and we enjoy the outdoors, cooking, traveling, eating out, and watching movies. I enjoy walking, writing, and reading. I also volunteer at my church at their coffee bar, welcome tent at Nocatee’s Farmers Market and local mission events.
I have spent time in family counseling as a teenager with my mother, as a young adult overcoming an eating disorder, premarital counseling, marital counseling, for anxiety as a young adult, grief and loss as a middle-aged adult, and currently life transitions as an empty nester! I know what it’s like to both the receiver and giver of counsel! I want to give to my clients what my counselors have and currently give me: to feel heard, to have hope, to provide empathy and understanding. These qualities are what I can give to help my clients work through their difficulties and struggles. (My specialists are listed in blue under on the right side of this page).
*Please note that currently for residents of Missouri, I am only able to do appointments by video/phone. These options are also available for residents of Florida, if desired.
