Dr. Stephanie Pelayo

I am a child and family specialist interested in helping resolve relational challenges, which interfere with having a satisfying family life and parent-child relationship. I have worked extensively with traumatized children and adults who want to deepen connections, have increased intimacy and have successful relationships. Sometimes adults have challenges with their strong-willed children and need innovative and effective methods to remove relational roadblocks. My mission is to help parents and children develop secure attachments while growing strong minds and gentle hearts. My specialty is to assist children and adults develop self-awareness and deepen the parent-child attachment. My services are tailored to meet the unique emotional behavioral, and spiritual needs of the family. I integrate current research & evidenced based treatments in my clinical practice. My approach is primarily psychodynamic utilizing family systems theory & play therapy to facilitate the attachment process within the individual.

Our office is an interdisciplinary practice consisting of psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and we see patients diverse in ethnicity, religious identification, and social class. We see children, families, some couples, and have a few group offerings.

I completed my clinical training at Biola University/Rosemead School of Psychology, a theological (Christian) affiliated university with emphasis on classical and contemporary psychodynamic theory. I completed my advanced training at APA approved USC/Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with a specialized focus on child and family trauma.
