STAFF THERAPIST – Philip Sutton earned his Master of Science in the clinical psychology program (1980) and Ph.D. in the marriage and family therapy program (1983) at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. He earned a BA in philosophy at the University of Notre Dame (1973) and completed his undergraduate psychology prerequisite courses at Indiana University South Bend. Phil is a Christian Counselor whose areas of specialty include working with persons who are struggling with complex trauma/grief and loss, especially related to one’s family of origin; depression; OCD and other anxiety difficulties; pornography and other compulsive habits; couples, marriage and/or family counseling; divorce and related concerns; and pastors, professed celibate men and women, and others who are serving or preparing to serve people of faith. He treats children and adolescents (ages 10-17), young and older single adults, couples, and families.

Phil is licensed in Indiana as a Clinical Social Worker and as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and in Michigan as a Psychologist. He has served as the Supervising Psychologist at Center[ed] on Wellness (formerly Samaritan Counseling Center of SW MI) in St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, Michigan since 1993. He is a member of Focus on the Family’s Christian Counseling Network and the Catholic Psychotherapy Association.
