I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist. Using evidenced based therapeutic models, clients learn to identify anxious thoughts tied to their core beliefs. By replacing the anxious thoughts with what is true about them, relief from anxiety occurs. I validate people’s experiences while helping them uncover the truth about their inherent value and worth in order to re-frame their problems and discover solutions to them. I focus on what clients believe about themselves and how those beliefs shape their behavior emphasizing solutions not problems. Together with the client, we re-frame perceptions in light of discovered truth creating new perceptions that influence our feelings and thinking.
As a Christian Therapist, I counsel from a Christian worldview and seek to honor Biblical principles in the delivery of counseling services. I adhere to the ethical code of the AAMFT and established evidenced based therapeutic models within the field of psychology. I am a Clinical Fellow with AAMFT, Gottman Level 3 Therapist, and Academy of Cognitive Therapists, and International Association of Trauma Professionals.
Our behaviors are a result of the conclusions we have formed based on experiences throughout our lives. Often these conclusions are false and the result of others’ behavior towards us, and no fault of our own. Therapy helps discover what is true about us and frees us from these conclusions that have motivated negative behaviors. I have found that my life experiences shaped what I believe about myself. I realized that many of the things I believed about myself were based on wrong conclusions and false beliefs, due to trauma in my life. The freedom I have found has been a result of seeking truth and choosing to believe what is true about me. Revelation 12:11 says that they overcame by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony (story). I invite you to experience God’s grace and write a powerful story of your life.
