Susan Barzdines is a licensed professional counselor who has a strong clinical background from 18 years of working as a therapist and clinical supervisor at the local community mental health center in Colorado Springs. She joined Wings of Grace in order to offer faith-sensitive counseling in a supportive Christian private practice environment. Her walk with Christ includes a calling since she was an undergraduate in college to be involved in some way in the healing ministry. This calling was manifested in Susan’s life in terms of studying psychotherapy.
Susan has her master’s degree in professional psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, and also has her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University. Her training and experience includes a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy,and EMDR.
Susan works with adults and young adults in individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy, and also has much experience doing group therapy. She also has experience working with adolescents. She is highly skilled in working with persons experiencing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, or bipolar symptoms, and also in working with individuals having difficulty with relationship issues. Additionally she has experience working with individuals who are in the process of recovery from substance abuse.
Susan enjoys helping people focus on finding the joy in life as they rediscover their own strengths and abilities within the framework of their own hopes, dreams, and values. She also helps them to experience peace and manage sources of stress as they pursue new horizons.
