Dan began his counselor training in 2001 at Liberty University and was licensed in 2009 as an LPC and CSOTP but his experience dates back to the 1970’s at the University of Delaware and Dallas Theological Seminary. He spent 28 years in active ministry and 7 years working inpatient residential treatment for adolescents.
Dan’s current counseling includes those who have struggled with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress and anger. He offers CBT and Mindfulness training to address present symptoms via a behavioral change process and EMDR to address past disturbing experiences and memories.
Because of his ministry work and residential experience he is comfortable addressing spiritual issues, sexual and other acting out behaviors in both teens and adults. Dan has successfully worked with couples who struggle relationally.
Dan is able to address difficult traumatic memories, flashbacks and negative life experiences – helping survivor’s process disturbing thoughts and memories while providing profound stable treatment. Finally he is able to target ADHD, parenting issues and family systems work because of ministry, therapy training and residential work experience.
Dan provides a broad spectrum of mental, emotional, spiritual, and behavioral healthcare to individuals, couples and adolescents. His modalities of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rogerian / Client-centered, Mindfulness, Family Systems and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as well as Psychoeducational and Support Groups. He is a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider and Clinical Supervisor for LPC/CSOTP residents in Counseling.
He offers mindfulness seminars/groups and includes mindfulness strategies in counseling.
