I received a BA degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, with a major in psychology, in 1971. I attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis for one year, where I studied theology and completed an internship in pastoral counseling. I received a PhD from Rosemead School of Psychology, a graduate school of Biola University, in LaMirada, California, which provided a unique focus on the integration of Christian theology with the professional practice of psychology. I worked with agencies in Iowa and Michigan from 1976 to 1983. I have practiced as a licensed psychologist in Rapid City, South Dakota, since 1984.
I have a strong interest in enabling people to preserve and nurture their marriages. I view marriage as a privilege, a gift from God that requires cultivation and conscious maintenance. Therapy can help couples manage conflict more effectively, and facilitate change in the direction of the relationship. I also have a strong interest in helping people deal more effectively with their emotions and behavior patterns, including depression, chronic anger, anxiety, and compulsive sexual behaviors.
