Mr. Curt Meiss

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor | MA, LCPC

I am a Christ-centered and clinical Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Lincoln Christian University. After completing a bachelor’s degree in secondary education at Illinois State University, I spent 18 years working in the Corporate Systems Department for State Farm Insurance before sensing a call into counseling ministry. In my counseling years I have served in a church-based clinical counseling center, a social services agency, and a professional counseling group practice. In addition to my Curt Meiss Counseling solo practice, I serve as the Director of Counseling and Advocacy Services at Peoria Rescue Ministries where I supervise counseling staff and interns, oversee Advocacy ministries, and serve on the Executive Leadership team.

I believe clients desire to notice measurable change and improvement in order for counseling to be considered successful. I believe that we as human beings have physical, thought/feeling, social, and spiritual dimensions. Each of these areas deserve to be considered, assessed, and treated with compassion, competence, and dignity in a God-honoring way that facilitates healing and growth. I love to help clients discover and use their strengths to not only overcome their challenges but to thrive.

My wife and I have been married over 30 years and have four adult children and now are enjoying grandchildren! We are active in our church where I’ve served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. I enjoy traveling with my wife and spending time with my kids, grandkids, friends, and church family. I also enjoy music, playing disc golf, watching/following Cardinals’ baseball and Bradley basketball, and riding my Honda Silvering 600.

Thanks for reading my bio. I want to encourage you in taking this faith step toward counseling which I know, from personal experience, can be difficult and humbling. Although I may not know your name yet, I’m praying for you. I would be honored to listen to your story and to seek Christ’s path of grace, truth, healing, and hope for God’s glory and your good.
