Dr. Steve Lee

Psychiatrist | MD

Dr. Lee ascribes to the consensus view of psychiatry that integrates biological, psychological and social factors in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. He believes that spiritual matters are not an isolated, circumscribed entity, but are the overarching and underlying basis on which these factors subsist. He appreciates the progress the field of mental health treatment has made but also acknowledges there is a continued need for better diagnostic and treatment tools and for a greater appreciation of the extent to which each person’s condition and situation is unique.
Dr. Lee frequently works with adults with the following clinical concerns: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety, Depression, and Panic Disorder.
“It is common to feel nervous when first meeting with a psychiatrist to discuss the possibility of utilizing medications. I try my best to explain the rationale behind medication usage if it is deemed appropriate. I encourage people to consider therapy with a counselor as it will often help foster a more complete improvement and robust recovery. I also communicate to clients the expected timeframe of a response to medication and the length of time needed to stay on the medication thereafter.”
Dr. Lee received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 1998. He attained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2002 and was a Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center in 2006. Dr. Lee served as president of the medical student chapter of the Christian Medical & Dental Association in Rockford, IL.
