Mr. Nathan Jernigan

Licensed Professional Counselor | MA, LSPE, LPC/MHSP, NCC

As a Christian Psychotherapist, I offer a faith-based practice which allows my clients’ spirituality to be as much of the process as they would like. I see individual adults and couples and am comfortable with a very wide range of counseling needs. I have extensive experience with couples in marital and premarital therapy. I’m also very experienced in treating the various types of anxiety and depression. I often help people with family and extended family issues as well as relationship problems. Sometimes I simply help folks get their personal, professional or spiritual lives back on track when they have simply lost their way or had a setback. My formal education is in Clinical Psychology. My practicum work as well as two Post-Masters Internships were in Marital and Family Therapy. I have two professional practice licenses granted by the State of Tennessee Department of Health Related Boards. I am a Licensed Senior Psychological Examiner and a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor. I have been in practice for 26 years.

I would be honored to be your counselor. I am deeply honored when someone allows me to have that role and shares personal details of their life’s story and personal concerns with me. I consider the therapy relationship to be a sacred space. The relationship is inherently personal. For this reason I strive to maintain the highest levels of professionalism and privacy possible. Everything about my office is geared toward your privacy and comfort. My goal is to bring my skills, education and training together in a safe environment and to walk with you through what ever challenges you are facing.

Another relevant credential for my work with couples and families is that I have been married for over years and have two adult children. I thank God for my family and feel very fortunate. I have lived in Middle Tennessee all of my life and love it here. I feel very blessed that I get to go to work and do something that I love. Helping people in a counseling setting is what I have always wanted to do and what I feel God has called me to do. After over 30 years I have not gotten the least bit tired of it. I welcome your call to answer your questions about me and how I do counseling.
